This policy explains what SpinOut U may collect, how it may be used, how it may be shared, and how users can ask questions about privacy and data handling.
Information we collect
Name, email address, title, organization, department, domain, role, affiliation, and contact preferences.
Whether you identify as a demand owner, TTO, researcher, faculty inventor, postdoc, student builder, founder, venture studio, sponsor, investor, bridge partner, deployment host, NSF hub participant, alumni operator, mentor, or network champion.
Non-confidential challenge descriptions, market-pull signals, IP categories, research areas, lab capabilities, prototypes, datasets, software descriptions, pilot sites, sponsor interests, funding categories, and desired next steps.
Device, browser, pages visited, referring pages, timestamps, approximate location signals, form interactions, search terms, route selections, and other analytics or operational information.
Information you should not submit
Do not submit trade secrets, unpublished patent-enabling details, confidential university or sponsor materials, controlled technical data, export-restricted information, regulated health information, student education records, social security numbers, financial account data, government identifiers, personal health information, or sensitive personal information unless a separate written agreement and secure process authorizes that exchange.
How we use information
SpinOut U may use information to operate the site, verify access, route requests, evaluate opportunity fit, create non-confidential briefs, map market pull to campus assets, coordinate next steps, respond to inquiries, improve forms and search, protect the network, prevent misuse, keep records, and communicate about relevant opportunities.
Information may also be used to develop aggregated, de-identified, or generalized insights about opportunity categories, ecosystem demand, campus asset types, and workflow performance.
How information may be shared
Information may be shared with Arns Innovations personnel, contractors, service providers, reviewers, and relevant ecosystem participants when needed to evaluate or coordinate a requested pathway.
Non-confidential submissions may be shared with potential counterparties such as universities, labs, sponsors, partners, builders, investors, operators, or deployment hosts if that sharing is reasonably related to the route you selected or a follow-up you requested.
SpinOut U does not intend to sell personal information. Sensitive or confidential exchanges should be handled through separate written agreements and appropriate review processes.
Service providers and tools
SpinOut U may use service providers for hosting, forms, email, analytics, security, document preparation, workflow management, storage, and communications. These providers may process information on SpinOut U’s behalf for operational purposes.
Some review, routing, classification, summarization, and opportunity mapping may involve automated tools or AI-assisted workflows, with human-led review where appropriate.
Cookies and analytics
The site may use cookies, local storage, analytics, logs, or similar technologies to remember preferences, improve functionality, understand usage, secure the site, and measure performance. You may be able to limit cookies through your browser, though some features may not work as intended.
Data retention

SpinOut U aims to use reasonable organizational and technical safeguards appropriate for the nature of the information collected. No online system, email system, form, or storage process is completely secure.
Do not submit sensitive information through general forms or email. If a secure or confidential process is needed, request one before sharing.
Your choices and rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, or information about certain uses of personal data. To make a request, email the contact address below.
Users may unsubscribe from non-essential communications where an unsubscribe mechanism is provided, or by contacting SpinOut U.
Children and student data
The site is intended for professional, university, research, founder, sponsor, investor, and ecosystem use. It is not directed to children. Do not submit information about minors, student education records, or protected student data unless you are authorized and an appropriate written process is in place.
International users
If you access the site from outside the United States, your information may be processed in the United States or other jurisdictions where service providers operate. By using the site, you understand that data protection laws may differ from those in your jurisdiction.
Opportunity-development data use
SpinOut U may use non-confidential intake data, role selections, opportunity-route choices, and high-level asset or market-pull descriptions to organize potential matches, route users to appropriate pathways, evaluate missing stakeholders, improve card metadata, prepare opportunity-development summaries, and identify what additional review may be needed.
Submitting data into a route does not guarantee a match, sponsor, pilot, license, funding, procurement, company formation, or private-room activation. It helps SpinOut U understand whether there may be a basis for further non-confidential review and stakeholder alignment.
